Create a flow

Create and define flows to automate your processes.

Prerequisite

You have the ARIS Connect Designer license privilege and the Flow manager function privilege.

Create a flow from scratch
Procedure. Procedure

  1. Click Application launcher Application launcher > Flows Flows.

  2. Click Flows Flows.

  3. Click Add Create > Flow Flow.The dialog opens.

  4. Enter a name.

  5. Select the trigger type.

  6. Select the context. For the Event-based trigger type you cannot select the context, the context is always User.

  7. Optional: Click Add Add description and enter a description.

  8. Click Create.

The flow builder opens.

Create a flow from a template
Procedure. Procedure

  1. Click Application launcher Application launcher > Flows Flows.

  2. Click Flows Flows.

  3. Click Add Create > From template Flow from template. The dialog opens.

  4. Enter a name and select a template.

  5. Click Create.

The flow builder opens.

Create a flow with Companion

You can automatically transform a textual flow description into a flow. The language selected during login is used for generation, regardless of the language used in the prompt. Only the flow structure is generated: trigger and action nodes. So far no mappings, forms, mails, or other assets are generated.

Prerequisites

  • Your license administrator has provided the ARIS AI Companion license.

  • You have the Companion user function privilege.

Procedure. Procedure

  1. Click Application launcher Application launcher > Flows Flows.

  2. Click Flows Flows.

  3. Click Add Create > With Companion Flow with Companion. The panel opens.

  4. Enter the prompt.

    Example of a flow description

    Create an approval workflow to approve a model. First generate the link of the model for ARIS. Then generate the link of Compare ARIS model. Then use this information to assign a task to the process owner. If the task is not approved, assign the approval task to the process owner until the process is approved or for maximum 5 times. If the model is approved, send an e-mail to the requestor that the model has been approved.

  5. Click Generate. The Generating flow panel opens and the flow structure is generated.

    If your prompt has exceeded the maximum amount of text allowed, you should shorten the prompt. To measure the amount of text entered for your prompt, your input is broken down into small units of data called tokens. One token is the equivalent of approximately 0.75 words. The maximum number of tokens allowed for a prompt is 30,000, which comes down to about 20 pages of text.

    You see the generated result as a preview.

    If you like the result, click Create flow to create the flow.

The flow structure is created and the name of the flow is automatically generated based on the purpose of the flow you entered in the prompt.
