Lock models and objects

You can lock models and objects permanently to prevent editing by other users. This is useful, for example, in the context of Release Cycle Management (RCM) to perform an assessment of the required items.

Lock models or objects

You can lock models or object so that they cannot be edited by other users. When models are locked, the objects used in the models are also locked. As long as the lock is enabled, only the user who enabled it can edit the locked items. Locking can be useful, for example, to perform a review.

Prerequisite

  • You have the Write access privilege for the database groups in which the model is stored.

  • You have the Lock permanently function privilege for the database.

Procedure. Procedure

  1. Click Application launcher Application launcher > Models and objects Models and objects.

  2. Navigate to the group that contains the content you want to lock. When you select the group, its contents are displayed in the details view.

  3. To lock a model or an object, move the mouse pointer to the row of the item and click More More > Lock Lock.

    To lock multiple models or objects, enable the check boxes for the relevant items and click Lock Lock above the navigation bar.

You locked one or more items.

  • If a user locks a model, the model cannot be edited by other users. Other users cannot move the model to another group and they cannot move, delete, or insert objects in the open model. However, in the repository, other users can change the attributes of the objects used in the model, such as the name.

  • If a user locks an object, other users can no longer edit the attributes of the object or move it to another group.

To unlock models and objects, click Unlock Unlock.

Unlock by administrator

As a system user, you can unlock models and objects that have been locked by other users.

Procedure. Procedure

  1. Click Application launcher Application launcher > Models and objects Models and objects.

  2. Navigate to the group that contains the content that another user has locked. When you select the group, its contents are displayed in the details view.

    • To unlock a model or an object, move the mouse pointer to the row of the item and click More More > Unlock by administrator Unlock by administrator.

    • To unlock multiple models or objects, enable the check boxes for the relevant items and click Unlock by administrator Unlock by administrator above the navigation bar.

    • To unlock all locked items of a group and its subgroups, move the mouse pointer to the row of the group in the group tree and click More More > Unlock by administrator Unlock by administrator. Click Yes when the confirmation dialog appears.

You have unlocked one or more items that have been locked by other users.
