Resolve differences

When the e-mail with the request to open the model variant and to apply the master model changes arrives, variant owners can start the roll-out resolution by opening their model variant. If the master model has assigned models, you must also resolve the differences for the assigned models. Attribute changes are handled in a specific way.

If an attribute is changed in the master model in the current database maintenance language and in other languages, the attribute is also changed in the affected languages when the changes are accepted in the model variant. To change attributes in other languages, you must also change the attribute in the current database maintenance language.

Prerequisite

  • You have the Variant management privilege.

  • The roll-out of the model variant can only be finished if the roll-out of all assigned models is finished.

Procedure. Procedure
  1. Open the model variant. Symbols indicate where the model variant differs from the master model. The Master model roll-out panel opens, displaying a list of changes made to the master model. If a change has subordinate changes, such as changes in attributes, DETAILS is displayed. Changes made in another modeling language are also displayed.

  2. Enable Old master and/or the New master options at the bottom of the Master model roll-out bar to compare the versions.

  3. Click Accept or Reject to approve or decline the current change, including any subordinate changes. To accept or reject subordinate changes individually, click DETAILS, move the mouse pointer over a change and click Change Accept or Delete Reject. The changes are applied to the model if there are no conflicts.

  4. If there are conflicts or warnings, click Conflicts/Warnings to open the descriptions.

    1. Click Related variant changes if the conflicts or warnings are caused by changes in the model variant that were made after the last roll-out cycle was finished. For example, an object that was changed in the master model may have been deleted in the model variant.

    2. The Variant changes dialog opens, the warning or conflict is described, and the variant version created in the last roll-out cycle and the current variant are displayed side by side. Click Close to exit the Variant changes dialog.

  5. Click Finish after completing all changes. The person responsible for the master model is notified by e-mail that the roll-out for the model variant is completed.

The model changes are saved and a new version of the model variant is created.
