Customize the modeling component

If you create a new model or open an existing model for editing, the model is displayed in the modeling component on a new browser tab. You can set up the modeling component according to your requirements.

You can show or hide bars as required. For example, click Symbols Symbols to show or hide the symbols bar.

You can change the content of the Symbols Symbols bar so that only the symbols you need for modeling are displayed.

  1. Under the Symbols Symbols bar, click Configure symbols Add/Remove symbols. The dialog opens. Objects currently displayed in the symbols bar are marked with a Enable check mark.

  2. To add or remove a symbol, click the relevant symbol. The Enable check mark indicating availability in the symbols bar is added or removed.

  3. To return to the default settings, click Restore defaults.

  4. Click Apply.

The mini toolbar is only available if Smart Modeling is disabled. You can define which object symbols the mini toolbar should offer for the relevant object type. You are offered only the object symbols for which the method allows creating a connection to the selected object type.

  1. Select the object symbol whose object type you want to configure the mini toolbar for. The mini toolbar is shown.

  2. Move the mouse pointer to the mini toolbar and click Add symbols Add/Remove symbols. The dialog opens.

  3. Click the symbols that are displayed in the mini toolbar, but that you no longer want to display. Their Enable check marks are removed.

  4. Click the symbols that are not displayed in the mini toolbar, but that you do want to include. A Enable check mark is added to these symbols.

  5. Click Close.

Now, when you open the mini toolbar, the selected object symbols are available.

You can enable or disable Smart Modeling that provides automatic modeling features, such as creating a space for new objects, placing objects, and reconnecting connections.

  1. In an open model, activate the Model tab bar.

  2. Click Grid Modeling area.

  3. Enable Enabled Smart Modeling or disable Disabled check box Smart Modeling.

You have enabled or disabled Smart Modeling.

You can enable or disable Guided Modeling, which uses lines and arrows to help you place objects or connections at the selected distance in the modeling area.

  1. Open the model.

  2. Activate the Model tab bar.

  3. Click Grid Modeling area.

  4. Enable Enabled Show guides or disable Disabled check box Show guides.

You have enabled or disabled the guides for Guided Modeling.

You can specify whether the newly created connections have a right-angled or a diagonal alignment.

Procedure. Procedure
  1. In an open model, activate the Model tab bar.

  2. Click Grid Modeling area > New connections right-angled. The check box is disabled. If you create new connections, the connections are aligned diagonally.

  3. To create right-angled connections, click Grid Modeling area> New connections right-angled again. The check box is enabled. If you create new connections, the connections are aligned right-angled.

You have switched the connection alignment.
